June 2008 Focus Group Results

On June 24 and 26, 2008, the Institute for Economic Empowerment conducted focus groups in Scottsdale, Arizona and Atlanta, Georgia with a group of nonprofit agencies / community rehabilitation programs (CRPs) with regard to:

  • The Assistive Technology Clearinghouse
  • Demographic data on CRP workers with disabilities
  • Communication and collaboration with the Institute and among CRPs

The excellent feedback received from these focus groups will be folded into the Institute's planning. Minutes of the focus groups have been posted to this website under the Events link, and are available to registered users. Please log in to review them.

In June 2009, the Institute contracted with Mathematica Policy Research to explore the use of an employer payroll tax credit to provide employers with stronger incentives to hire people with disabilities.

Mathematica developed a preliminary model of a budget-neutral employer payroll tax credit, estimating the potential cost savings to the Federal government of companies employing people with disabilities.
